The Source Gods facilitated the creation of the world and the introduction of all creatures, swearing to abide by the rules of the Vow of Equity.

This pact was made by the Source Gods to maintain a balance in power between all races of the world

Barbaric Age 2000AB - 1700AB

~300 years

The chaotic gods behind the monstrous races were eager to find their place in the world, so they created them first and let them wreak havoc through the natural world.

Monsters dominated the world during this period.

The chaotic gods were eager to find their place in the world, so they quickly brought monstrous races to Aoterra, allowing them to wreak havoc into the world.

Slowly over the course of 200 years, Elves, Dwarves, Humans, and other major races of the modern day were brought into the world, marking a turning point in the development of civilization as we know it today.

Tribal Age 1700AB - 1300AB

~400 years

The gods behind civilization took longer to place their champions, opting instead to carefully plan their induction
Elves, Dwarves, Humans, etc began to find their footing

The discovery of fire enabled a plethora of options for survival. With the new source of light, many races retreated below ground, where monsters hunted less.

Stone weapons allowed people to protect themselves from the dangerous monsters that roamed the land.

Many humans, dwarves, and elves began to work together to survive, rather than treating each other as monsters.

The first written language—an ancient form of written elven hieroglyphics was developed.

Crafting Advancements 1400AB - 1300AB

Tools, shelters, food, and medicines were crafted and discovered, allowing people to begin building the foundations for permanent homes.

Feudal Age 1300AB - 900AB

~400 years

Developed essential civilized elements.
Now that the strategical advantage of civilization proved to be superior to the chaotic nature of monsters, the chaotic Source Gods became jealous and bitter at the Source gods.

A conflict between Chauntea and Talos regarding Aoterra resulted in a series of godly attacks upon civilization. Talos summoned an army of storm elementals, razing and wreaking havoc upon the various cities of the realm.

Dragon Age 900AB - 700AB

~ 200 years

Dragons came into power all across the world as Bahamut and Tiamat came into conflict.

Originally, they were together and considered themselves the closest followers of Ao.

They disagreed over what kind of influence their kind should have over the other races of the world.

Bahamut wanted dragon kind to watch over the world and rule with cautionary benevolence, only intervening to right a wrong.

Tiamat wanted to directly rule and command the world with might, as she thought that forceful rule was the only way for dragons to stay true to their potential.

The Clash of Chromatic Platinum

Most of the Dragon Age was marked with bloody conflict between dragons.

The champions of Tiamat and Bahamut battled each other for a climactic test of power.

With Bahamut and his metallic dragons as the victor, they banished Tiamat and her champion back to the Nine Hells, restoring peace to the world. Bahamut realized the dangers of getting too involved in the world and opted to return himself to his home plane, commanding his dragon followers to do the same: to hide away from the world until it needs their help once again.

Age of Discord 700AB - 400AB

~300 years
The Source Gods began a power struggle, where they granted their civilizations gifts of miraculous nature, rapidly boosting the growth of technology and magic.

Tensions rose rapidly through this era, and civilizations, ripe with power, yet immature of time, conspired to destroy their enemies.

Celestis and Von went to war, destroying each other in the process

Prime Epoch 400AB - Restoration Day

~400 years

An era of calamity, in which the majority of this period was marred by divine warfare.

The Source War ravaged the land, leaving death and destruction in its wake. This was an age of deep darkness and terror throughout the land.

Source War 387AB - 1AB

No one knows who started the war, but the good gods who honored the Vow of Equity sided with each other and the evil gods who broke it fought back.

As a result, a great war broke out between the two sides, and by most history books today, the two sides are called the Benevolents and the Recreants, names that still hold true today

Morhan was killed by Tyche

Many great, terrible monsters were born in this era

Most of these monsters are said to be extinct today, either destroyed by the Benevolents or weakened to a state that they have decayed over time

Source Relics were extremely powerful things created during this time to aid in the war - weapons, equipment, energy sources, etc.

Note: items created before the Source War are called Archaic Relics, or Arch Relic… more rare than legendary magic items, grade X

During the war, the Benevolents saw the strength of mortals when they were able to banish Tiamat with the combined power of civilizations

The Great Restoration

The war was put to an end when Ao himself descended upon the realm and banished all other-worldly creatures, rending various injuries to all the deities that had gotten involved and sending them back to their home planes. Ao placed the Divine Order that prohibited gods and goddesses from directly materializing in the prime material plane.

It is said that Ao has been watching over the world ever since that day, but the truth is that he has abandoned the world.

adswa

Once an unclaimed island after the events of the Source War broke Virannis apart, Viranna Isle ended up becoming the key chess piece between multiple countries that were warring over ownership of the land.

The Kingdom of Tiberia, Vonarûn, Asaria, and their allied Izanagi Dynasty fought over the island.

During the war, many citizens of the Kingdom of Tiberia had already begun to settle on the coasts with the help of Asarian influence, and a conflict between the two factions drove much of the city-states into civil war.

Vonarun joined their Tiberian allies while the Dynasty aided Asaria. After a decade of conflict, a treaty was finally made, where the war was to be ceased if all parties relented control over the land and a new government to unite the isle was formed by the people who had originally built the city-states. The Viranna Monarch was created, which later expanded into the government that exists today with The Parliament and Crown and The Ministry

The heart of the conflict was racial: humans against elves.
Different races took sides and the war ravaged the entire world.
The dwarves and many monster races sided with the humans
Halflings, gnomes and dragonborn sided with the elves
Both sides lost many lives, taking heavy financial burdens.

Kynsleif, the Poet King brought peace to the war
