Aetheryte

A mineral found deep underground that is said to have been formed during the Divine Genesis. It is theorized that this mineral is what keeps the planet afloat.

While Aetheryte itself has a high mass per volume, Aetheryte crystals distort the force of gravity upon itself, creating a "floaty" feeling when carrying it. It essentially lowers the force of gravity, but only for itself.

When combined with Residuum energy, Aetheryte crystals will begin to float upward, creating an effect of upwards gravity. This can contribute to the flight of other objects as well, though the inefficient effectiveness of this older engineering method had previously made Aetheryte crystals more of a gimmick than a marvel of technology.

In the present day, Aetheryte is pressurized and used with Refined Residuum to create Aetheryte Gas, which is the main component that allows the Pneumatic Chamber to aid in many machines of flight, most notably giving airships its upwards lift.
