Dragons came into power all across the world as Bahamut and Tiamat came into conflict.

Originally, they were together and considered themselves the closest followers of Ao.

They disagreed over what kind of influence their kind should have over the other races of the world.

• Bahamut wanted dragon kind to watch over the world and rule with cautionary benevolence, only intervening to right a wrong.
• Tiamat wanted to directly rule and command the world with might, as she thought that forceful rule was the only way for dragons to stay true to their potential.
